Women In Technology
The Women in Technology (WIT) program aims to inspire and advance women in the technology field through education, mentorship, networking, and common support activities. Guided by the direction of the WIT advisory committee, this group focuses on creating opportunities for growth that result in business solutions, professional advancement, and personal growth.
Women in Tech Mentor Program
The mission of the mentor program is to connect women to create a mutually beneficial relationship geared toward professional and leadership development. The Mentor Program matches experienced and up-and-coming professional women to share best practices, answer questions, offer advice, and provide support in the tech industry.
Since the inception of the program in 2012, it has served almost 200 women in the greater Rhode Island area.
The WIT Mentor Program offers two, 4-month mentorship programs throughout the year:
February – May • October – January.
As a woman aspires to advance from individual contributor to new levels of responsibility and into emerging leadership roles, it requires developing new skills, experiences, and perspectives - a “leaders” point of view.
The DELTA Leaders Series brings together a cohort of rising female IT leaders for an empowering and energizing program. This series provides wide range of learning opportunities that focus on four key areas of communication, competency, credibility and connections. The assessment, interactive discussions, skill-building work and guest presentations from IT leaders help participants strengthen new leadership competencies, develop confident communications and strategies to ease the challenges when transitioning into leadership roles
Women in Tech Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee is comprised of industry and community leaders who are committed to creating a more diverse technology industry.
To join the committee an individual must:
- be invested in the WIT vision and Tech Collective mission
- promote events and programs within workplace and network
- be interviewed by Program Manager
- agree to time expectations laid out in commitment letter
“I have been a part of the Women and Technology Committee for over 10 years now. Through my work with this committee I have gained confidence and was able to flex my leadership skills in a way I hadn’t been able to my organization. I can’t say enough about the Tech Collective, and this great group of strong women.”
Women in Tech Educational Events are designed to connect women in the industry and to assist in their leadership journey. All event topics are directed by the Women in Tech Committee and industry surveys.
Past events include: Confidence Building, How to Engage Men as Allies, Self-Care in the Workplace, Relationship Building, How to Overcome Bias, and The Practice of Making Clear Choices.
Three events will take place during the 2018-19 program year
