The Tech Collective is pleased to announce that Tuni Schartner, Executive Director at District Hall/Venture Café Providence, and Todd Knapp, Owner of Envision Technology Advisors, have joined their Board of Directors. The Tech Collective’s Board is comprised of 20 top leaders in technology, business, and higher education in Rhode Island. The board provides leadership and guidance for the programs and initiatives that the Tech Collective provides for its’ members and the greater state business community.
Tuni Schartner is the Executive Director of Venture Cafe & District Hall Providence, leading the Rhode Island team in creating an inclusive, strong, supportive and accessible innovation community. She studied English and Psychology at the University of Rhode Island and continues her education in business, innovation, and digital marketing. She co-founded The Hive RI, Southern Rhode Island’s first coworking space, and continues to run the community-based economic development initiative at the Mill at Lafayette. She served as the inaugural director of Innovate Newport and is a founding mentor of VMS of RI (RI Hub’s Venture Mentoring Service), as well as serves on Congressman Langevin’s Strengthening RI Advisory Committee. She is a perennial, passionate, and sometimes outspoken, proponent of economic development in RI.
Tech Collective Vice Chair, Joe Devine, is excited that Tuni is joining the board, “Tuni’s passion for building community and economic development is needed in the technology industry. We need to break down silos and bring organizations and people together. That’s Tuni’s expertise!”
Todd Knapp has been providing IT services nationally for over 20 years and draws inspiration and insight from participation in a wide range of executive boards and industry associations. He has an extensive background in strategic planning and implementation of business technology solutions and is the founder of Envision Technology Advisors. As a presenter, Todd speaks throughout the country on a variety of technology and business topics including digital transformation, cybersecurity, leveraging the data economy, and integrating user psychology into IT strategic planning and services. He founded his firm in 1998, and today enjoys engaging with his team on technology transformation projects representing almost every business vertical.
In his free time, Todd works with several non-profits. He is a board member for RI Public Radio, and volunteers for organizations including The Groden Center, American Red Cross, RI Foster Forward, and the Rutland Rescue Mission. He is also an avid sailor and scuba diver.
“Todd is recognized nationally for his technology acumen and ability to see technology trends. Todd will add a strong technical presence to the Tech Collective Board of Directors, helping us create more impactful programs”, says Devine.
