As we approach 2020, we have an amazing range of frameworks, libraries, drivers and other tools to help with test automation. Yet there are many teams out there trying to embrace agile values, principles and practices that still have little or no regression test automation. Desperate to release new features, they “save time” by putting off any effort to automate regression tests. As the saying goes, they’re too busy drowning to learn how to swim. Or, they fear they don’t have the skills to automate tests, or lack money to invest in tooling. We’ll explore some ways to address these problems – which, as Jerry Weinberg said, are really people problems.
Join Lisa Crispin on Tuesday, March 19th from 6-8pm at Tech Collective for a presentation on how to get traction on test automation using a whole team approach.
Lisa Crispin is the co-author, with Janet Gregory, of More Agile Testing: Learning Journeys for the Whole Team (2014), Agile Testing: A Practical Guide for Testers and Agile Teams (2009), the LiveLessons “Agile Testing Essentials” video course, and “Agile Testing for the Whole Team” 3-day training course offered through the Agile Testing Fellowship. Lisa was voted by her peers as the Most Influential Agile Testing Professional Person at Agile Testing Days in 2012. She is a testing advocate working at mabl to explore leading practices in testing in the software community. Please visit www.lisacrispin.com and www.agiletester.ca for more.
