Event Focus

We all have the ability to listen intently. Nimota Garcia will impart the knowledge she has gleaned that brings this skill to the next level. Nimota will share how having the necessary tools to communicate with peers, ensures that the message is accurately communicated and the desired results are achieved.

In this session Nimota will cover:

  1. Process of translating requests into action
  2. Importance of listening to learn and understand vs. listening to speak and be understood
  3. Power of listening with purpose and intent

About the Presenter:

Nimota Garcia is the Communications Administrator for OSHEAN, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to providing internet-based technology solutions for its member institutions and the communities they serve.

Nimota promotes, organizes and manages business and social events affiliated with OSHEAN. She also works as the website administrator and provides direct support to other staff members on various project initiatives. Nimota’s goal is to provide members with settings that will assist them in communicating ideas and knowledge sharing collaboration within the membership. A Providence, RI native, Nimota comes to OSHEAN with a B.A. in Communication Studies and minor in English from the University of Rhode Island.
